Performing Arts
You decide to follow this student bubbling with energy. After introducing herself as Yin Chi from Musical Theatre, she leads you to a small cosy studio. Opening the door, you see some students singing in a group and others rehearsing a scene.
What really gets your attention is how the senior students are having deep conversations in smaller groups with their juniors. You look around and see Yin Chi briefing her juniors who are done rehearsing. She certainly has that aura of a leader who cares and her juniors are listening so intently. She pats them on their back, and you notice the confidence in their eyes.
'Hey. Come and join me here!' She waves for you to come over and introduces you to the different performing arts groups.
'If school is our second home, my CCA is my second family. Because we are family, we help one another grow in character and values. Kudos to the senior-junior mentoring system, I felt no fear in Secondary 1 as I have this wise senior by my side who is always ready to help and guide me.'
You are touched her heartfelt gratitude for her seniors. She sees them as friends, mentors and confidants, not just seniors.
'So, as a senior now, I do the same. I want my juniors to know that they can learn safely in this space. Because of the unique CCA-centric nature of our school, the juniors can count on the seniors to be there to guide them. Our CCA family is where we grow and a family that we all know we can count on - anytime and anywhere.'
