HISTORY
Picture from University of Pittsburgh, 1886, Allegheny City, Plate 29
Developed as a colony and became a Fort Pittsburgh in war, Pittsburgh passed through the centuries.
Along the road from the steel industry as the central industry to environmental governance, infrastructure and public space construction to a comprehensive transformation, the development of more diversified projects. It has become a diverse city that combines education, research and modern industry and commerce. The old downtown area has also been revitalized.
Some of Pittsburgh's most iconic objects.
CONCEPT
The design inspiration comes from the leaf, and through the decomposition of the leaf, get the idea of changing scenery and following the natural light. A neatly arranged building is the equivalent of a leaf growing along a leaf stem. The meaning of leaf as rebirth also implies the rebuilding of Pittsburgh Riverfront.
MASTER PLAN
The whole design area is connected with multiple gardens to ensure that the community has sufficient green coverage.
Designed to be accessible to all, u-shaped apartments provide both sunshine and privacy. The solar housing area on the ramp is a small single-family villa, which can be isolated from noise while being closer to nature.
Bus stations and bike lanes are covered in the design, which takes into account the different travel needs of different people.
THEMATIC LAYERS
Bus stops and green Spaces connect the whole design to form a whole. Considering the drainage problem, rain gardens and green roof are planned for the whole area.
GARDEN & STREET AREA
Green space design adopts the "leaf" approach. As a central position in the whole area, follow this leaf through the entire area with the bridge as the "leaf stem".
The garden to the right of the bridge is surrounded only by shrubs, the rest of the area is planted according to local needs (replaceable, Seasons, or activities)
Green Street's design revolves around the central bus cycle. The bus enters the parking lot, makes a loop through it, and exits. This route does not clog traffic and allows the whole parking lot to be used.
There is a bicycle lane between the Vehicle Road and the crosswalk, separated by a stone curb to protect the safety of cyclists.
SECTIONS
Parking lots, green Spaces, central gardens are all made of permeable materials. The rainwater collected can go directly into the soil below and be used to feed the surrounding trees. Under the bridge is the Rain Garden. As the lowest part of the whole area, rainwater will accumulate here, so a Rain Garden is designed here to collect rainwater.
