As an initial challenge to pupils this is primarily a manufacturing project. The Flat frame is built before any design takes place and is then used as an aspect of design where students make something that includes the frame.
Students focus on idea generation techniques and creating creative and diverse ideas. During this project students must fight off the urge to copy ideas from the internet in an attempt to spark their own personal creativity.
This is a formal presentation that students will do in front of their fellow pupils about a famous engineer or designer. They are to research key facts about the person of their choice and present clearly to their peers.
This project focuses on effective research. This is their first time working on a function over form project and students will learn what makes research effective.
Students take on a National level design folio, they are to Research, Design and Make a product that sores and displays an item(s) of their choice.
Assessment will take place throughout each project as well as at the end of each topic.
