MCS WELCOMES STUDENTS WITH A GENERAL SERVICES ORIENTATION
On June 10, 2025, Tuesday, the grade 3 to grade 12 assemblies had an informative talk about the general services offered to help students.
Malate Catholic School hosted an orientation for Grades 3 to 12 at the Audio Visual Theatre (AVR) and JCS Gymnasium, respectively, to discuss the school’s general student services offered.
The orientation began with an opening prayer, followed by Nurse Russel Deleon’s presentation. She warmly welcomed students and discussed the infirmary's services, mission, and policies. Nurse Russel also discussed common sickness, clinic procedures, and the gate/clinic pass.
Mr. Marko Suasola, EDTech Officer and Data Privacy Officer discussed responsible use of Google Workspace tools, both in school and at home. He explained the functions of tools like Google Classroom and Google Drive, highlighting data privacy and online safety. He also discussed social media offenses and corrections, followed by the smartwatch policy and device compatibility for online learning.
After Mr. Suasola's informative talk, Mr. Reggie Mariano reminded the students about the proper use of the AVR and appropriate internet access for students.
On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, Junior High School students had their session at the Jaime Cardinal Sin building, while Grade School and Senior High School students gathered at the AVR.
Ms. Mary Grace Dayao, the school librarian, introduced the library’s location, hours, and book collection, and introduced the IMC staff for student assistance.
After the library service orientation, Mr. Ralph Madera explained the school’s campus ministry, which he explained is centered on faith and love. He outlined the mission and purpose of a Campus Minister, highlighting their role in pastoral ministry. He also provided a list of activities that the campus ministry can engage in.
Ms. Michelle Santiago, the Guidance Counselor, engaged with students, especially newcomers, and explained the purpose of Guidance. She discussed services, programs, and strategies to support all students, particularly seniors, and introduced the new Guidance Associate, Ms. Alaissa Angelynne Cruz.
She also provided Grade 12 students with instructions on requesting college recommendation letters and ended with an inspiring reminder that the students matter.
The orientation for the second day ended at 1:00 PM.
On June 16, 2025, Mr. Ringo Dabu, the Prefect of Students, warmly welcomed the transferees and kicked off the final day of student orientation by introducing behavior support and intervention, focusing on its role in promoting positive student conduct.
Following this, Mr. Dabu explained the rationale behind RCAMES, highlighting its purpose in preparing students to face real-world challenges. He mentioned the importance of discipline both inside and outside the school environment.
Mr. Dabu covered several key topics on the final day of orientation. He explained the importance of attendance, the school uniform policy, and categorized student offenses into minor, major, and grave errors, with severe consequences for grave offenses.
He emphasized honesty in exams, outlined student responsibilities, and mentioned the No Bullying and Think Before You Click rules. Mr. Dabu also discussed the Lost and Found Policy, proper use of gadgets, and responsible use of AI in academic work.
The session ended at 1:00 PM, with transferees heading to the Chapel for their bridging program.
