What happens if I want to change my research question during the EE period?
Don’t panic! Contact your supervisor to keep them informed about any changes that you are planning to make, ask for advice and, if necessary, arrange for a supervisory meeting. Remember that the EE is an independent piece of work and the onus is on you to keep your supervisor informed; they should not need to chase you or find out about changes without consultation.
What happens if I change subjects during the EE period?
You must speak to your current supervisor and Dr Dyker first as changing subjects is not recommended once you have done your first reflection and started your initial research.
If you are given permission to change subjects then your first reflection has to be about your original EE research question and topic; the second reflection, which would take place after your feedback session, should refer to the change in subject and why you have made that decision. The final reflection will still take place after the viva voce.
What happens if I occur problems during the research stages of my EE?
In some subjects you may need to collect data, conduct experiments or arrange surveys or interviews but, of course, it may not go according to plan – don’t worry! Don’t manipulate data, falsify information or reject your original hypothesis because of a lack of data; remember that any data is good data – your ability to evaluate and analyse it is what you will be judged on.
What happens if my supervisor leaves the school?
Don’t worry – you will be reassigned a supervisor as soon as possible.
