Oak        Learning Update

Central idea: Families can support the local community.

This half term we have started to look at our families, their differences and their similarities. Throughout our class discussion and during play many children have spoken about who lives in their house and their shared interests.

Izabella: "I like to play with my toys. My Mummy likes playing too."

Archer: " My family likes to go on long walks together.

Emilie: "My Daddy does magic. He makes us all happy and we laugh."

We have spoken about the common thread that runs through families, LOVE!

Luana: "When I'm with my family I can feel love pumping through my body."

Siena: "Families are connected by love."

Love is something you can feel but you cannot see. We created paper dolls of our family, counting the number of members in the family and discussing this during maths sessions.

This half term our focus artist is Pablo Picasso. While finding out about his history we found out that he painted onto textures. He often used plaster and wallpaper as a canvas for his masterpieces.

This gave us an idea! On Wednesday 24th April, the EYFS had an art day where he made plaster, plastered boards aswell as scratching marks into the wet material. Later we painted over the plaster using a range of colours that we though Picasso would have chosen. We look forward to sharing the finished outcome with you soon! In the meantime, here are some facts that we have learnt:

Faaizah: "Picasso has 23 words in his name."

Louis: "His first word was pencil."
