Central idea: Conflict shapes society.

We have begun to delve into our inquiry focusing on conflict. In the first instance, we explored what conflict actually is (and the reasons for it) and have used this knowledge to begin focusing on the Second World War. This has included us looking into what life was like in Europe in the 1930s, notably how in Britain preparations were taking place for war before it was even a reality. This week, we have explored the rise of Hitler and the Nazis (and their role in the outbreak in 1939) and have researched the countries that became embroiled in the war: we found it interesting to consider the allegiances and how these were similar (or dissimilar) to those of the First World War.
