Central idea: History can be a journey of discovery

We had a brilliant start to the week with our trip to St Paul's Cathedral. Finding out about the history of the Cathedral and how The Great Fire of London impacted the area was fascinating. We climbed the never ending staircase to the Whispering Gallery and was amazed at the birds eye view we had of the Cathedral floor. Up we went again, this time, the narrow, stone, spiral staircase was not for the feint hearted but the views from the Stone Gallery on the outside of the Cathedral were worth it. Inside the Cathedral, we went on a Great Fire of London trail and found various statues that survived the fire. We discovered all about Sir Christopher Wren and how he was inspired to rebuild St Paul's. A wonderful day, with all of the children representing our school so brilliantly. Well done Sequoia & Maple Class, we are very proud of you all!

We have designed and made our very own tudor houses, that would have existed during 1666, including small windows and wooden beams. We are looking forward to creating our very own 17th Century London street scene.
