Central idea: People can go on vacation to explore different communities.
In maths we have really been brushing up on our arithmetic skills, revising written methods of addition and subtraction. This has involved a great number of steps when an exchange is needed, and so we have had to work very methodically. Using base 10 equipment has really helped the accuracy of our calculations.
In our inquiry writing, we are in the process of publishing our final non chronological report which is a travel brochure all about the tourist attractions in Folkestone. We cannot wait to have these on display and then take them home!
Our science this term has been about plants and children have learnt so much about the conditions needed for plants to grow well, but also about the structure and functions of the different parts of plants. We have really enjoyed identifying, observing, drawing and studying plants - the microscopes were a true eye-opener!
In art, we have been getting very creative with masking techniques and spray painting to try and experience the style of Banksy. We cannot wait to peel off the tape and reveal our design! As part of our inquiry, we have learnt about foods from different countries, considering how climate, belief and culture affect the foods people eat and what it might be like being a tourist in those countries. Pizza making was a real hit; we enjoyed eating them as much as the design and creation!
