5Cedar   Learning Update

Central idea: Technology constantly evolves to progress human societies

It has been a great couple of weeks back and the children have settled into their learning brilliantly. They have stepped up to continually improve their presentation and think of ways to demonstrate their knowledge.  The knowledge harvest provided thought-provoking discussions surrounding the use of the internet in developing society and whether we could live without it. Our first inquiry is about what scientific and technological development is which has led us to learn about different theories on the solar system and how this has developed over the years. I have been impressed with the children's knowledge and they have thoroughly enjoyed demonstrating their understanding and interest in Science.

In our writing lessons, we have been working towards writing travel brochures to persuade our readers to visit an island for robots. The children loved creating their own islands and using prepositions to explain where to go on the island.  They all worked really hard to play with their language to make their island the best. In Maths, we have been calculating long multiplication and the children have enhanced their fluency and deepened their understanding of this topic. It is great to see their resilience to the challenges they found in Maths.
