Central idea: Families can support the local community.
We have continued to discuss our families and how important they are to us and the community we live in. Through class discussion, we shared our knowledge of the occupations in our locality and how our families help one another. This led us to discuss the Church.
Louie: We go there at Christmas to sing songs.
Leonard: People get married at a Church.
Sophia: Babies go to Church and have water on them.
We visited the local Church on Tuesday 7th May to find out about how they help Marden.
Reverend Nicky warmly welcomed us into the Church and told us about the celebrations that happen there including weddings and christenings. She also spoke about how the Church is a wonderful place to remember loved ones.
We visited the Vestry Hall too. This is a community hub where people from all generations come together to socialise. Reverend Nicky told us about a very exciting weekly coffee morning.
Upon our return to school, the children in Team Oak spoke about their desire to bake and sing for the older generation of our community for a coffee morning.
Our next step is to arrange a date with Reverend Nicky... We will keep you posted via Google Classroom.
