Central idea: Transportation systems can be developed to meet the need of a community
Last week the children had such an amazing time on our trip. We learnt so much about farming and agriculture in Britain. The children really enjoyed all the workshops and tasting local produce, which they all learnt about too. The sheep show was a highlight, with the children learning about all the different breeds of sheep and seeing how farmers sheer sheep wool too. Getting up close to loads of animals that are found on the farm and getting to stroke them or hold them was also a big highlight for a lot of the children.
In maths, we have been looking at money and the children have a great understanding of all the coins and notes we have. We have been adding and subtracting money in different word problems and questions and it has been a topic in maths the children have found really engaging. In writing, we have just finished writing persuasive letters, where they were writing to a local builder who wanted to build a new road through the school playground and field. The children came up with so many arguments for this and wrote some really good arguments as to why this plan should not go ahead.
