Central idea: Economic systems rely on systems of production, exchange and consumption.
We have entered the third line of inquiry for this Module and the class have been introduced to their project; building a chocolate business! We are learning all about entrepreneurship, making and creating a product or service to make profit. The class have been split into groups of four and will be creating a logo, advertising, planning and designing chocolates and packaging, making their chocolates, selling them and then, at the very end, appearing on the Marden Primary Academy edition of Dragons Den, to sell their ideas to a group of very formidable dragons! The purpose of this task is to build the children's communication and teamwork skills, as well as to understand the processes of how goods they buy are designed and produced.
Science has been progressing well in this module. Year 3 are working on light, understanding different light sources and how light works to help us see things. Year 4 are working on electricity. They have been building circuits, using batteries, wires, light bulbs and switches to create increasingly interesting circuits.
We are gearing up towards Sports Day. Our PE lessons are focused on practising the various Sports Day events. It is therefore essential that every child has their PE kit in school for our lesson on Wednesday. We will also use other times to practise so please ensure your child has a PE kit in school for the whole week, not just on Wednesdays.
