Central idea: Conflict shapes society
Over the last couple of weeks, we have explored the idea of conflict further, delving deeper into the Second World War. Continuing to focus on how conflict arises, we rounded off our focus on Hitler and the Nazis by showing our learning in a presented piece, clearly evidencing how this contributed to the Second World War occuring. We built onto this by looking into key events of the war, particularly the events in September 1939 which saw Britain declare war on Germany.
In starting to explore our third line of inquiry, looking at how society is impacted by conflict, we focused in on the Blitz, the sustained bombing raids on British cities by the Luftwaffe. Notably, we were all shocked to discover that Marden itself was bombed (although not as a target), and there were in fact fatalities - our society and community, which we are a part of, impacted by conflict!
As we look ahead to next week and our SATs tests, we are proud of how far we ahve come and can not wait to do our best and show how amazing we are!
