6Aspen  Learning Update

Central idea: Exploration leads to discoveries, opportunities and new understandings. 

Inspired by our central idea, we have begun our focus into exploration by, firstly, identifying what is meant by exploration - the discovery of unfamiliar lands. Then, we looked into early explorers during the age of discovery, identifying who they were and where they discovered - this we were then able to show on a timeline. This week, we have focused on the reasons for exploration, considering what the benefits were for explorers who were spending months at sea; we have even written a recount as an explorer, recounting their time at sea! In the last couple of days, we have focused on three famous British explorers - Sir Francis Drake, Sir Walter Raleigh and Captain James Cook!
