Principal's Message

Marden has had a momentous year in terms of inspections and visitors with PYP pre-authorisation and  Challenge Partners in Autumn, OFSTED in Spring and finally PYP verification last week. Once again, we have risen to the challenge. By we, I want to clarify, that I mean everyone. From teachers, parents and governors, but not least of all, our wonderful children. I am so thankful for all of the parents who were quizzed on the inspection and everyone did us proud. We have passed with flying colours, achieving 12 commendations, which are only given for areas that you are not expected to be achieving. We can shortly publish that we are officially an IB World School. This journey has been a hard one, but one that has transformed our curriculum offer at Marden and I am sure you agree, it has been worth the work.

It was truly wonderful to see so many of you at  the Marden Father's Day this afternoon. Enjoying the scavenger hunts, quick cricket and ice lollies in reception! Thank you for coming, I know it means an awful lot your children and we thoroughly enjoy hosting you. I hope you have time to put your feet up this weekend and get treated to a cup of tea in bed... or maybe just a lie in!

Father's Day

The children in EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 drew pictures and wrote a message for the Kent Messenger's 'My Dad' supplement, which is available in this week's edition of the newspaper.

Happy Father's Day!

Kwik Cricket Festival

What a fantastic day at Tenterden Cricket Club. A special thanks to High Halden Primary for hosting us.

The morning began with our first match against High Halden where we lost by 6 runs. However, the team improved dramatically and won their next three games by a crazy number of runs.

This left Marden in the final against High Halden. After some incredible hits over the boundary and some dramatic catches, Marden went ahead to win the whole tournament 90 runs to 44 runs. The team received their trophy which will take pride of place at school!

What a brilliant day, a huge congratulations to our team. You have outdone yourselves.

The Summer Reading Challenge - Starts 8th July

The Summer Reading Challenge, presented by The Reading Agency, is delivered in partnership with public libraries and funded by Arts Council England. The Challenge encourages children aged 4 to 11 to enjoy the benefits of reading for pleasure over the summer holidays, providing lots of fun as well as helping to prevent the summer reading ‘dip’. Each year the Challenge motivates over 700,000 children to keep reading to build their skills and confidence.

This year’s Summer Reading Challenge theme – Ready, Set, Read! – has been created in partnership with Youth Sport Trust and illustrated by the brilliant children’s writer and illustrator Loretta Schauer. This year’s sport and play-themed initiative aims to keep children’s minds and bodies active over the summer break, empowering young people to forge new connections with others. The Challenge and the accompanying book collection show that imagination and play can unlock endless possibilities and that the library is where this starts.

The Challenge will officially begin on the 8th July in England and Wales.

There are two ways you can take part: at Marden library OR online:

Please note, the in-person and online Challenges are separate. Physical incentives like medals and certificates are only available via the library, for those taking part in the in-person Challenge.
