2Maple Learning Update

Central idea: Human behaviour can affect the survival of our planet.

What a busy week we have had in year 2!  We enjoyed two enrichment days of digging deep into our new inquiry, whereby children have created a paper mache earth to show the oceans, continents and global habitats.  We have also begun to learn about species endangerment - what it is, where and why it happens!  We generated so many questions from our curiosity of this subject, and we were able to pose them to Mr John Halliday from Greenpeace on a live link.

In science, we have begun an investigation to find out the type of temperature that plants need in order to grow.  We carried out measurements and placed 4 different plants in 4 different places around the school so that we can observe how they grow.

Excitingly, in outdoor learning time, year 2 have today experienced pond dipping in small groups - they were thrilled to find great crested newts, baby newts, water beetle larvae and dragonfly larvae!  Thank you to Mr Townsend for leading this wonderful activity.
