Oak Learning Update

Central idea: People communicate to share knowledge and experiences.

This week, we have further explored our family traditions at this festive time. Many of the children have commented on their shared experiences with family and have enjoyed talking about decorating the Christmas tree. At the beginning of the week Mrs Morgan gave us a task. She asked us to decorate a tree to be displayed in the village church. We got busy carefully cutting out our Marden school badge, developing our fine motor skills. After looking at our school badge in greater detail we noticed apples on a tree and this gave us inspiration for our decorations. Using clay, we moulded the clay in spheres before pressing patterns into leaf shapes. We used our knowledge of the primary colours to mix green, a secondary colour.

We developed our shape vocabulary when making paper chains. We used rectangles before folding and curving the paper into circles.

Our school Christmas tree will be displayed this weekend in the village Church. Please go and have a look. We hope you are as proud of the outcome as we are!

Reminders:

We will be practising our Nativity performance next week. Please can all named costumes be in school by Wednesday 7th December? If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
