Central idea: Artforms can be used to express our ideas and feelings

Learning about Kandinsky's work and influences has certainly been a very rich inquiry which has allowed for our own expression. This week, we explored the colours we can make when mixing primary and secondary colours. We then considered how each colour can be 'felt', just as Kandinsky experienced, and then recreated our own 'Concentric Circles' composition to express our emotions.

Our reading, writing and music this week has focused on the story of Peter and the Wolf. Children are thoroughly enjoying bringing the characters to life and using their developing grammatical skills to compose engaging character descriptions.

In maths, we have been tackling more complex problem solving by comparing number sentences, but also finding missing numbers. Children have had to use a variety of skills and knowledge in their calculations, as well as making decisions about the most appropriate mathematical equipment to help them.
