Central idea: People with different beliefs may struggle for rights and freedoms.

This week, we have continued our focus on the Syrian Civil War by considering the impact on the millions of Syrians who have been forced to flee their home as refugees. Using our geographical skills, we were able to identify the countries in Europe and Asia that offered asylum the most to Syrian refugees. In doing so, we were able to see the migration corridor which many refugees took to reach the U.K. We then used this as our stimuli to write a balanced argument titled 'Should we allow refugees to come to the U.K?'. This was really thought-provoking as we had to be open-minded in considering both perspectives of this question, even though we agreed we should consider what these refugees have been through and had to leave behind. It also created many personal connections to our book's character Ahmet in considering what he experienced in his journey to the U.K.
