2Sequoia Learning Update

Central idea: Exploring identity can help develop a sense of belonging.

We have started to explore and research our second line of inquiry. We began by finding out exactly what a community is. The children researched, gathered information and then wrote their own definitions of what a community is. We are now beginning to explore the community of Marden. After looking at the housing, amenities and open spaces the children drew their maps of the village.

We are all extremely excited about learning to play the ocarina. We have very strict rules in the classroom about respecting our instruments and other people, keeping our instruments clean and safe and being ready to follow instructions. Children are focusing first on learning how to cover the holes completely with the soft pads of their first two fingers of each hand to create a low D sound. When all the holes are open, they can create a high D. Twinkle Little Star is slowly coming to shape!

Parent volunteers needed:

We will be visiting the library to meet the Marden History Group and carry out a local study on Wednesday 5th (Sequoia) & 12th (Maple) October, 9.30 - 11.45am. We would be extremely grateful if you can spare time on either of these mornings to accompany us for this visit. Please contact the office.
