This week has been interesting as we continued with our core text Emma Jane's Aeroplane. Our focus has been around comparing one of the cities Emma visited with where we live. We decided to make mini booklets about China as we looked at what was similar and different between these two places. We also made a timeline of her adventure and wrote a sentence about one of the places she visited. We came to school on Friday in our pyjamas to celebrate Red Nose Day. We are also trying to show our understanding ofdoubles. Playing and learning with our friends helps us to develop our social skills and build relationships as you can see in the pictures. We also investigated sound and compared how instruments different sounds, that was noisy but we had a lot of fun. If it rains next week, we will try and listen to the sound of rain on different objects.
Week Beginning 6th March 2023
This week we focussed on a text called 'Emma Jane's Aeroplane'. It is a story about a girl who flew to different places and had different animals as passengers on her travels. First we looked at the cover page and wrote down what we thought the story wil be about. Then we read part of the story and wrote in speech bubbles the conversation between Emma and the fox. Some of us tried to write what we thought s the other animals in the story might have said. Some of us even tried to draw our own story map for the story. We also wanted to make one of the landmarks (Big Ben) in London which was the first place she visited. We are trying to orally rehearse the beginning of the story using actions to help us remember the story. We enjoyed jumping as we made the River Thames in the sandpit.
