Week Beginning 6th February 2023
This week we have focussed on writing sentences about the main characters in the story of Little Red Riding Hood. We were trying to write descriptive and action sentences. We also created a display of vases for the Grandma's house. We enjoyed our music lessons this week and here are a few recordings. We continue to build friendships as we play and share resources together. Some of us sequenced the story using pictures. In maths we have been looking at what more than, fewer than and equal means during our focus activities. We are always developing our gross motor skills when we are in our outdoor area. We learnt the importance of talking to adults when we see things that upset us as part of Safer Internet Day. We drew what we would like to see through a magical window.
Week Beginning 30th January 2023
This week our focus was on creating our own forest scene of Little Red Riding hood and the wolf in the forest. First we had to mix blue and yellow together to get a shade of green then we used red, blue and yellow to make brown. Then we painted the forest the way we wanted it to look like. After that, we drew both our characters and cut them out and stuck them onto our paintings. Next week we are going to add some writing to it so watch this space!
These are some other activities we enjoyed this week with our friends as we continue to build positive relationships.
Week Beginning 23rd January 2023
This week we started to look at our core text called Little Red Riding Hood. We have written sentences that describe how LRRH felt when she heard that her grandma was sick.We thought about the food and made jam sandwiches. We have also made our own baskets of food for LRRH to take to her grandma and we made our own faces of LRRH that shows how she was feeling. We are learning that five can be partitioned(split) into different parts as well as adding up small numbers. We enjoy being creative by making different kinds of buildings as we are learn to understand the world aroung us.
LRRH had some appetising cookies in her picnic basket.
LRRH had some yummy cookies in her picnic basket.
LRRH had some mouth watering watermelons in her picnic basket.
LRRH had a appetising chocolate cake in her picnic basket.
These are some of the sentences we came up with when writing about the food that was in LRRH basket.
Week Beginning 16th January 2023
This week we have been learning about The Chinese New Year.
We had the opportunity to make noodles and taste it. We even tried using chopsticks to eat the noodles that was a challenge! See some of us trying to use the chopsticks. We also made lanterns and hung them up in our class. We were developing our fine motor skills by using cotton buds to recreate our own Chinese drawings, have a look and let us know what do you think?. We made our own dragons as well and wrote down how we made the noodles. We are always building friendships and learning to work with other children and we are getting better at it each day. In the playground we had races just like the animals did in the story. It explained how each year is named after a different animal.
Week Beginning 9th January 2023

We made wolf masks, can you guess who is behind these masks? We wrote sentences about bears in their habitat. We are continuing to develop our friendship groups as we work together to create islands and beaches using the Duplo lego. We played subitising games with our friends ,labelled a fox and a bear and sorted animals into forest animals and not forest animals.
