At the commencement of each academic year, the district shall inform parents/guardians of all students about the district's obligation to provide, upon request and in a timely manner, information pertaining to state or district policies regarding student participation in assessments. This notification shall include details about any state or local policies that permit students to opt out of assessments. The district maintains the expectation that all students will participate in all district-wide and statewide assessments.
Liberty School District Board Policy IL - Assessment Programs
According to Liberty School District Board Policy IL - Assessment Programs, all enrolled students are mandated to participate in all components of the Assessment Program. The district policy does not permit parents to opt their children out of state assessments or the associated reporting procedures.
Students who are enrolled and present on designated state testing days are expected to participate in the scheduled assessments. During these periods, the administration of state assessments constitutes the primary educational programming. It should be noted that absences on testing days will be officially recorded on student progress reports, grade cards, and/or permanent records.
At the secondary level, End-of-Course examinations are integrated into course grades. In the event a student misses a state assessment, a grade of zero will be entered into the gradebook for the corresponding assessment component.
