Purpose of the Liberty Public Schools Assessment Program
Assessment is a cornerstone of school improvement and student learning. The Liberty Public Schools district assessment program is designed to gather comprehensive information for multiple purposes. A well-structured and appropriately implemented assessment strategy offers the following key benefits:
Provides teachers with insights into individual students' strengths and areas for growth.
Enables educators to evaluate the effectiveness of their instructional methodologies.
Raises student awareness of their skills across various domains.
Facilitates informed decision-making by students, teachers, and parents.
Allows for the evaluation of program impact on learning outcomes
The Liberty Public Schools Assessment Program encompasses a diverse range of assessment types and formats, including:
Norm-referenced tests
Criterion-referenced tests
Nationally developed tests
Locally developed assessments
Classroom assessments in core content areas
The primary objective of our assessment program is to monitor and enhance student performance and achievement while providing essential data to improve curriculum and instructional practices. Recognizing that no single assessment or type can meet all informational needs, our program incorporates a wide spectrum of instruments and procedures.
In compliance with the standards set by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), Missouri school districts are required to develop a comprehensive testing plan. This plan must include the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) tests and assessments of the Missouri Learning Standards (MLS) not covered by MAP. Liberty Public Schools fulfills this requirement by meticulously designing curriculum and assessments that align with the Missouri Learning Standards.
Through this multifaceted approach to assessment, we strive to create a data-rich environment that supports continuous improvement in educational outcomes for all students in the Liberty Public Schools district.
