Year 8 enjoyed an action-packed STEM Day full of creativity, teamwork and plenty of flying inventions! Students took on two exciting engineering challenges—the Egg Drop Challenge and the Paper Rocket Challenge—testing their design skills, problem-solving and resilience.
From parachutes and crumple zones to bold minimalist egg protectors, students put their ideas to the test with dramatic countdowns and big reactions, whether eggs survived or not! Rockets were launched with huge energy, with some soaring like NASA prototypes and others… taking a more creative flight path 😂.
Throughout the day, students experimented, refined their designs, shared ideas and celebrated each other’s successes, showcasing fantastic teamwork and imagination.
STEM Day was a brilliant success, and Year 8 should be proud of their enthusiasm and innovation. A huge thank you to Ms Savani, Mr Hussain, Mr Attallah, Bobby, Mr Horton, Ms Bunger, Mr Badu, and all staff who supported—your hard work made the day run smoothly.
We can’t wait for the next STEM adventure! 🔭🤩
Fun at the Scholastic Book Fair! 📚
From Ms Russell, Assistant Principal
There has been such a buzz in the library this week with the return of the Scholastic Book Fair!
Students enjoyed browsing the selection of books and stationery, and it was great to see so many taking time to choose something they were excited to read or use.
We are pleased to share that the fair raised £300, which will go directly towards buying new books for our school library. This has made a meaningful difference to our collection and continues to support our goal of encouraging a Reading for Pleasure Culture within school.
A big thank you to our student librarians, Wen and Humayl, for their help throughout the week, and to Mr Cadney, our librarian, for coordinating the fair and supporting everyone involved.
It has been encouraging to see such genuine interest in reading across the school. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the event a success.
College Updates
Our College Assemblies returned this week, and the passion from Midland, Mercia, Central and Westerly was outstanding. From celebrating achievements to setting new targets, every College showed what makes our community so special.
With the Attendance Trophy and Behaviour & Attitudes Shield still wide open, the competition is on. Every day in school counts, every positive choice matters, and every College has a real chance to take the lead. 🙌
And there’s more… Upcoming Events
🏀 College Basketball Tournament – fast, fierce and full of College spirit. 8th December – PE Kit required
📝 LBS Spelling Bee – vocabulary, precision and nerves of steel. 15th / 16th December
Assemblies reminded us that when our students bring passion and purpose, incredible things happen. Let’s keep the momentum going and show what our Colleges can achieve.
Let the competitions begin! 💪🔥
An Outstanding Week of Sport for Our Students! ⚽🏀🏏

To have so many teams competing in a single week — and four teams playing on the same night — is a fantastic achievement. It reflects not only the commitment and talent of our students but also the hard work of the staff who make these opportunities possible.
A huge thank you to Mr Deeks, Mr Preece, Mr Noble, and Mr Badu for their continued dedication in coaching, organising, and supporting our teams throughout the week.
Well done to all students involved — we are incredibly proud of your teamwork, determination and passion. Here’s to even more sporting success in the weeks ahead! A huge thank you to Mr Janes for coordinating all the events.🎉💪
Sports Leaders
This week our Year 11 Sports Leaders were presented with their certificates in recognition of completing their award. The students delivered multiple sports sessions last year and attended numerous training courses to prepare. They ran a Multi-Skills event for Primary Schools as well as volunteering in School supporting our Extra-Curricular Clubs. The boys have developed their communication skills, confidence and ability to socialise with a range of different people. Seeing the students interact with the Primary School students and build those relationships was an absolute pleasure to watch. Well done to the following students:
Stanley Gyamfi, Andy Nguyen, Leo Wallace, Pranay Patel, Joshua Coote, Usman Iqbal, Ethan Van Der Westhuizen, Shubur Akinade,
Alfie Cutler, Terrell Ricketts, Harkirat Singh, Luke Asson.
