Welcome to the third instalment of the Lordswood Publishing House!
Every half term we will be publishing creative writing and student journalism on our website - showing the best of the best of our wonderful writers.
13 of our amazing Year 9 students have been selected to be published in an anthology titled 'Mission Chaos' after they submitted their 100 word stories to the National Young Writers' competition in July!
The boys were so happy to receive their certificates and we can't wait to get our hands on copies of the book in November!
Look out for the Lordswood Publishing House's first printed book coming soon!
This year, some of our Year 10 students have been taking part in the Young Reporter scheme to gain insight into what it would be like to write for a real newspaper!
So far this half term the students have met their editor at the Halesowen News, taken part in key lectures on bias and defamation and have begun to work on their first articles.
R.J has written an amazing article on how the 'Winter fuel cut affects Pensioners' which you can find on the Halesowen News Website.

“Wow mum it really is cold” says Jeremy.
“Yeah it is but not your heart” said his mother while pulling out his Christmas present.
” You’ve been very good and I’m very proud of you. I know it’s not much but it’s through love “as Jeremy opens it, an eerie whistle sound plays. As he turned around he was greeted with a creepy voice and a floating whistle…
“The spirit of the key has chosen you to fulfil his wish “said the key before swiftly falling into his clueless hands.
“WOW mum look look…Mum “Jeremy said as he saw his mum swiftly sleeping.
“Yeah it is late I should probably go to sleep as-well “as Jeremy lays in bed and falls asleep he sees the same key in a dream.
As he abruptly jumps out of bed, he looks into the mirror and sees a wolf in his place.
“AH am AM I DEAD? “
But to no reply, as he stares around he sees Jeremy asleep with the key glowing.
“What the. Did the old key TURN ME INTO A MONSTER??”
He was freaking out at this point. As he Jumps up to his feet he runs out into the wild and goes on a killing streak.
AHH Jeremy woke up shouting as he looked in the mirror and saw a normal human person
“Oh thank god , Mum you will never believe the dream … MUM“
He walked around to see his Mum dead and wolf bites and blood all around her and as he looked around he began to think of it less and less of a dream.

Bob, Jenna and Jerome had a ghost expedition channel that wasn’t popular until Friday 13th, the day that the internet would explode. This story is written from the perspective of Jerome.
“Dear Reader,
Today was one hell of a day, I am currently in critical condition after today’s expedition. Traumatisation. Extreme suffering, my feelings then.
We got a report from our subscriber to check out a Colorado house, where his brother was found dead. Exploded insides. Half-crushed head. Severed tendons. Toothless.
We entered the house to find a TV, static on screen and an ominous sound of water dripping.
No it couldn’t, we checked the kitchen and the bathroom.
But not the basement. We walk down the stairs as a skull rolls down, almost like it was following us. A high pitched scream erupts from the attic as a thumping sound follows.
We briskly turned around and glared at the door, pondering what horrors could be waiting for us when a sudden yelp transpires from the abyss behind us as it’s devilish glare at us, it’s not visible face tracks us, as it tears Jenna’s face off, and crushes her skull. He penetrates her stomach and rips her insides out.
It grabs us as Bob blacks out and it drains his blood from his body, as it decomposes, just one click, my lifelong friends are gone. I woke up to see my legs dismembered and my fingers snapped and my insides felt like they were going to implode…”

Night time. The sun had sunk into the ocean; it was the death of the day. It was a mundane Monday; the moon now awake along with the stars watching over the turmoil of the sea. WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Sneakily, I crept from my cabin to peep through my dad`s cabin window. There I saw my dad lying fast asleep.
I could see a grimy key in the lock of his cabin door. My dad could not lock his door from the outside? The only three on the boat were Timmy (our dog), my dad and I. Someone had locked the door? I felt other icy hands all over me, but that was just fear. My hands were shaking like a leaf as I turned the key to open the cabin door, the key was turning but the door was not opening. I cried out `Dad, Dad, I can't open the door`, there was an eerie silence! I pulled out the key as I slumped down crying.
Timmy suddenly jumped out from behind me and started howling at me to make me move. –if only I had listened! Shockingly, the screeching of two knives and footsteps were rapidly closer.
Thank you to all our student contributors, we look forward to the next installment of the Lordswood Publishing House!
