Students have been working incredibly hard this half term showcasing their key literacy skills: Reading, Writing, Speaking & Listening
Year 10 students are feeling proud and accomplished after completing their recent English assessments. Their hard work, focus, and dedication have really paid off, with many showing impressive progress in their writing and analytical skills.
It’s been great to see their confidence grow, and teachers are thrilled with the effort and creativity students put into their work.
This term, our Year 8 students explored dystopian fiction through insightful and creative presentations. They analysed key themes like power, control, and freedom, drawing from novels, films, and their own imaginative ideas. From reimagining classics like 1984 to creating original dystopian worlds, their work showed critical thinking, creativity, and a strong connection to real-world issues.
A huge well done to our Year 10 FS English students, who have just completed their first set of mock exams — an entire year early! This early run is all part of their prep for the final Level 1 exams coming up in June. Staff, including Year 11 teachers and Mrs Kang, were especially impressed by their maturity and integrity throughout. Even better, the results are already looking strong, with a 75% pass rate in the reading exam. Great work, Year 10!
A special shout out from Ms George to Yonatan in The Vikings who has made huge progress, improving both his attitude and attainment since the start of Year 10!
Year 10 students have been developing their debating skills using Voice 21 ‘Talk Tactics’, learning how to Build, Challenge, Probe, and Summarise effectively. This week, class 10.1 took on the important topic of misogyny, exploring its impact from 1912 — the setting of An Inspector Calls — to present-day society, including current affairs and media trends.
Thoughtful, passionate, and articulate, their discussion showed real maturity and depth.
We can't wait to see all the amazing work continue from our students next half term!
