Primary
The Primary School counselor has an office that is privately located in the main office complex for individual and small group meetings and testing. The Primary also has a classroom located next to the school library where whole class instruction is delivered to kindergarten and first grade students.
Elementary
The Elementary counselor’s office is located in the Elementary building (2nd – 3rd grades) near the administrative offices near the front doors to the building. The office in the building provides privacy and is equipped with a computer, phone, cabinet space and shelving. The office only provides room for individual sessions and office duties.
Class instruction takes place in the Commons area, near the library and gym, and is a shared space with all teachers. There are six tables that are used for lessons, activities, etc. This room also offers two large smart TVs. A rolling cart with lesson supplies and Chromebook are stored in a nearby room.
Upper Elementary
The Upper Elementary counselor has a classroom where whole class instruction takes place. This room provides space for individual and small group sessions along with being located directly across from the main office.
Middle School
The Middle School counselor’s office is located at the opposite end of the main hall from the principal’s office. The counseling facility consists of two offices, one for the counselor and one for the part-time secretary. Empty classrooms in the building are available for whole-class instruction.
The counselor's office is in a quiet area that provides adequate privacy. It has a window to the outside hallway, with blinds that can be drawn if needed. The door between the counselor’s office and the adjoining office has a window with blinds. The facility is equipped with computers, filing cabinets, closet space, secure vault space for storage of permanent records, ample shelving, telephones, and an intercom system to the principal’s office. The counselor’s office provides available space for both individual and small group counseling and activities.
High School
The High School counseling center is located adjacent to the administrative main office. The counseling center consists of three counselor offices and office space for two secretaries: one counselors’ secretary and one secretary shared by the counseling department and the A+ Program.
All offices are in quiet areas that provide adequate privacy. Each is equipped with computers, filing cabinets, ample shelving and telephones. There is an adequate amount of light, heat and air conditioning available for a comfortable work environment. The counselors’ offices each provide adequate space for meeting comfortably with 3-4 individuals for guidance and counseling.
In addition, the counseling center houses a Resource Center which provides students access to information about colleges and universities, military careers, vocational opportunities, local and national scholarships, ACT/SAT testing, financial aid, and mental health resources. There is a computer lab with two computer workstations for students to use for college and scholarship searches, filling out college applications, and registering for the ACT, if needed. The counseling center also houses a secure vault for student files and testing information. There is a large conference room that is shared with administration that is available for parent/teacher meetings and other larger group meetings. Directly outside of the counselors’ offices there is an area by the stairwell that provides updated information to LR students on testing, ACT prep, ACT/SAT, scholarships, counselor announcements, summer programs, etc. This area is highly visible to all students.
