School Counseling Program Definition and Philosophy
The Logan-Rogersville Comprehensive Guidance Program is essential to the school's educational process. It strives to involve all aspects of the school and community. It follows the Missouri School Counseling Program model. "It is developmental by design and includes sequential activities organized and implemented by school counselors with the active support of parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and the community. As a developmental program, it addresses the needs of all students by facilitating their social/emotional, academic, and career development, helping create positive and safe learning climates in schools, and helping students feel connected to school and at least one caring adult. At the
Simultaneously, the program assists students as they face issues and resolve problems that prevent their healthy development."
The educational philosophy of the Logan-Rogersville School District is: "All people have worth and the right to be treated with dignity and respect. All students will have the opportunity to learn to the extent of their abilities. The family is critical to the success of the learning process. The quality of learning directly affects the quality of life. Any compromise in a commitment to excellence in education is unacceptable." The school counseling program plays an integral part in realizing this statement and is compatible with the school's philosophy of education. We believe all aspects of a child's development are essential: emotional, physical, social, ethical, and educational. Therefore, the guidance program is developmental by design. It involves guidance lessons; individual consultation with students; public relations; group activities, referral, and program management.
