7th Grade
Whether you do or do not, try to understand how the students feel. Put yourselves in their shoes. Also, I know from experience that if a student needs help emotionally, they're going to try and hide it.
I think it is important to show students how their future matters and help make a path for a bright future.
I think all of this is important because kids in 7th grade take turns in their lives, and they may need a lot of help
So many don't know how to deal with anxiety and depression even though most people have both
8th Grade
I think all these are very important because a lot of kids struggle with most of those things in life, and some kids need help with getting through that.
Helping kids with financial stability and life skills such as taxes and managing/budgeting finances would be extremely helpful.
Caregivers
They need to be taught how to handle being bullied. They also need to know that if they come to a teacher, counselor, or administrator with a problem, their voice is heard, and they see changes happening.
Self-confidence and self-esteem are crucial at this age.
While all these things are very important. I feel it's much more important to prepare children for their future outside of school than to prepare for schooling itself. School will be over quickly, but relationships and jobs last a lifetime.
Middle school is a tough time for most kids with so many pressures through social media and trying to understand where they fit in. There are so many kids who struggle with who they are in middle school- it would be great to develop programming and support to make ALL kids feel included and valued. Additional options for extracurricular activities other than sports would be valuable in helping more kids feel they fit in.
Faculty and Staff
Self-esteem and confidence in this transitional stage of life are the most important.
