Lucy Danforth Anna Cleaves

Almira Danforth, who died in 1818 at age 1 year, 9 months, was the daughter of Samuel and Betsy Danforth.

Anna Cleaves, who died in 1819 at age 29, was the daughter of Lucy Danforth.

Samuel and Lucy Danforth were children of John Danforth the first permanent settler in this area. John was born in Worcester, Massachusetts 22 served as a captain in the Revolutionary War, fought at Bunker Hill and witnessed the surrender of Burgoyne. In the 1790’s he settled in the region that would later be called Liverpool. He became involved in the manufacture of salt, established the first tavern, and built one of the first frame houses.

Lucy Danforth, one of his daughters, married an English officer, John Batch who had at her father’s tavern. Four years later John left on a business trip for Canada. He was never heard from again. Records indicate that Lucy was buried in the Johnson Park Cemetery and was moved to this cemetery in 1846.
