In Year 4, children continue to develop their ensemble skills as they learn trumpet or trombone in the classroom with a highly skilled brass teacher.
Whole Class Ensemble Tuition (WCET) provides children with the opportunity to learn a musical instrument during curriculum time, free of charge at the point of access for a full academic year. The school pays for the tuition which is delivered and supported by Ealing Music Service (EMS).
Children learn the history of brass instruments, learn about different musical styles and listen to some key repertoire (eg. Copland Fanfare for the Common Man) - as well as learning about breath control, embouchure and posture. Through games and songs we focus strongly on the key musical skill of playing sensitively with others. We continue to learn about the Elements of Music and use the vocabulary in all musical discussion.
