I was inspired to take up the cello at the age of 6, after a visiting cellist gave a demonstration at my school. By then, I already knew that I loved music as I’d worn out all of my mum’s old vinyl records. I especially remember how excited I felt when asked to join my school orchestra and all the good friends I made there.
Choosing a favourite composer is tricky as there is so much great music to choose from, but my current favourite is Bach; last month it was Mahler; before that Beethoven…Stevie Wonder…
A family friend used to play trombone and I got to have a go on it and was hooked straight away. I love playing the trombone because it is such a versatile instrument and you can play it in any style of music you want. My favourite composer is Mahler because he wrote beautiful chorales for brass instruments and my favourite brass group is Monzil Brass…look them up as they are amazing!
Hello, I’m Ross Kenning, the guitar teacher here at Little Ealing. I’ve been playing in bands since I was 14. Music has taken me on an incredible journey — from touring across the UK and Europe to performing at music festivals in the USA. I play all styles of guitar, from classical to rock and pop, and I also play drum kit and bass. I love bringing this variety into my lessons, helping students explore different genres and find their own unique sound. With over 14 years of teaching experience, my goal is to make learning guitar fun, inspiring, and rewarding for every student.
I have played the violin since the age of 7 and grew up performing with and leading numerous orchestras across the north coast of Northern Ireland. After moving to London in 2014, I was a member of Ealing Youth Orchestra for many years, and was lucky enough to play with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. I love to collaborate with other musicians and artists on projects in all aspects of music, tv, film and theatre, and have been lucky enough to have recorded at Abbey Road Studios playing the lead violin. I teach piano as well as strings and strongly believe that every child should have the opportunity to experience the magic music creates, ensuring a safe and calm environment for my students to learn in.
My passion for the violin started when I was in secondary school, attracted by its sound and its expressive possibilities, and I have loved playing ever since. I like to promote new pieces for the instrument, from solo violin works to major compositions for violin and orchestra. In the following link you can listen to the premier of the violin concerto that the Catalan composer David Bozzo prepared for me

I took up the flute aged 8 after a ‘Come and Play Day’ at my local music centre and years later learnt how to play the clarinet and the saxophone. I love playing the flute and piccolo in Ealing Symphony Orchestra because it brings so many musicians together and I love playing with other people. My favourite composers are Aaron Copland… and Taylor Swift!

I started my musical journey on the piano and recorder before finding my way to the clarinet when I was 8. Having grown up in Ealing, I really enjoy working with the musicians at LEPS and formed the orchestra with Mr Maud in 2016.
I love playing in orchestras and chamber groups and think Beethoven is brilliant. I love dancing in our kitchen to Florence and The Machine - not sure my children love it though!
