Below are answers to questions about LFSMUN.
Students from any school are welcome to participate in LFSMUN. We advise (but do not require) having a teacher for each school guiding preparation during the process.
Delegates should be between grades 9 and 12; Chair applicants are expected to be between grades 10 and 12.
At the school level, MUN Directors may offer preparation sessions to familiarize their participants with MUN procedures and some guidance over issue research. Cooperation between participants within a school in the preparation process can also prove beneficial. LFSMUN does not expect such preparation however, and also encourages participants to directly communicate with the Chairs and the Secretariat for guidance if necessary.
At the individual level, participants can choose between varying levels of preparation for LFSMUN. At minimum, they are expected to know the fundamentals of MUN procedure (3rd-person speech, POIs, opening speeches etc.) and to have read through the Chair reports on the issues they have. However, a more thorough understanding of the procedures and prior research on the issues is recommended for a fulfilling experience during the conference.
Preparation material can be found on the "Presentation"-"Preparation" tab.
LFSMUN is both a learning experience and an entry point for Model United Nations activities. As with any other MUN, LFSMUN can help students develop public speaking skills and a new perspective on international affairs.
As the project seeks to be accessible to Delegates from all levels, it focuses on a gentler approach with assistance available from both Chairs and the Secretariat. It is non-competitive, rewarding effort and easier to prepare for, making it an excellent first MUN experience for new Delegates.
LFSMUN is organized as a project of the French School of Seoul (LFS, Lycée français de Séoul) in the context of a collaboration between French schools in Seoul. It is mainly hosted by students of the LFS partnering with the LIX (Lycée international Xavier), organized in the Secretariat.
LFSMUN does not have participation fees. Travel costs and lunch are not covered by LFSMUN.
LFSMUN presents a Best Delegate award for each Committee and participation certificates for all Delegates and Chairs.
