Cooking is one of the important life skills taught at Transition. In cooking class, students choose a recipe, budget and shop at various area grocery stores for ingredients, and follow the recipe while at the same time learning about kitchen safety.
Our goal for cooking instruction is to learn to make recipes which are uncomplicated and that most anyone can complete. Our recipe of the month for May was Nick's class's Pepperoni Bread. This easy recipe is perfect as an appetizer or if you prefer, a main dish with a salad or veggies on the side.
Pre-pandemic, part of our Lake Forest College experience every Thursday involved LFC students spending time with our students. As of last month, our college buddies are back! Our students are having fun getting to know their buddies, playing basketball in the gym, cards in the trophy room, and just hanging out and talking. We are so very appreciative of these wonderful Lake Forest College students who take time out of their busy schedules to mentor our students. As you can see from the pictures, it is a mutually beneficial experience.
Students are learning independent living skills both out in the community and at West Campus.
Each month we like to share various helpful resources for parents of our Transition students. If you have any questions or know of a resource we may share for the next month, please do not hesitate to contact your class teacher or the Transition Coordinator. These events are not sponsored by Lake Forest High School District 115.
