April 11th 6:00pm--Teri Bodeman from Benefit Boost will give a presentation on benefits at LFHS West Campus:
Benefits provide financial security, healthcare coverage and access to services for individuals with disabilities. This one hour presentation is specifically designed for parents of children with special needs who are approaching or are in the midst of transition. Teri Bodeman from Benefit Boost will discuss available benefits, eligibility criteria, how to navigate the complicated system and how to maximize and maintain these benefits for a lifetime.
Benefit Boost is an Advocacy firm providing services to individuals with disabilities. We provide education and assistance to families to help them understand and obtain government benefits. (SSI, SSDI, Medicare and Medicaid. These benefits provide a safety net for the future . Teri has been helping families for over 30 years.
Meet Matt! Matt currently has three jobs and would like to share some information about his extensive work experience! Check out the interview below:
Q: Where do you currently work?
A: I work at McDonald's and Overture and Trustmark
Q: What do you do at each job placement?
A: At McDonald's I clean the spoons and bring the happy meals and the trays to the front. At Trustmark I scan the papers and enter the codes. I give the finished papers to my boss. At Overture I put bags together for DoorDash. DoorDash is an on-demand restaurant delivery service. I just started a new project there doing mail fulfillment.
Q: What is your favorite part of each job?
A: At overture, my favorite is assembling the bags for DoorDash. At McDonalds, my favorite part is bringing the stuff to the front. At Trustmark, my favorite part is helping out entering codes.
Q: What is the most important skill you have learned through your job placements?
A: to focus on the work that they give me
Q: What is the secret to being an excellent employee?
A: Not getting distracted at work.

Q: What are your current job placements, and what do you do at each job?
A: I work at Whole Foods and Caterpillar. At Whole Foods I do bagging and clean the cafe, and collect the carts. At Caterpillar I sort and deliver the mail, organize kitchen supplies and office supplies, and then soon I will set up the conference rooms for meetings.
Q: What is your favorite thing about your job placements?
A: At Whole Foods I like bagging. It is relaxing. At Caterpillar I like that I can walk around while I work.
Q: What are your plans for after you graduate Transition?
A: Keep on working at both of my job placements. I’d like to go see movies and hang out with friends in my spare time.
Q: What has been your favorite part of the Transition program?
A: Eating community lunch
Meet Cassedy! Cassedy is graduating from Transition soon and has found a career path she is passionate about! Read her interview below:
Q: What is your current job placement?
A: I currently work as a volunteer teaching assistant in the 3-5 year-old room.
Q: What is your favorite part of your job?
A: Getting to work with young children, working with different kinds of people, and helping others
Q: What are your plans after you graduate from Transition?
A: I want to get a paying job in teaching as an assistant and continue my education.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: Working with young children
Q: What has been your favorite part of the Transition program?
A: Getting to meet new friends, getting the chance to find my dream job, and getting to play basketball at the college every week.
