Why did I join FFA?: "I joined FFA as a 7th grader. I had been involved in agriculture my entire life and wanted to extend my experience from my family farm. Joining FFA changed my life in so many ways and is by far the best decision I have made yet in life."
What has been the most challenging FFA/Ag experience for you?: "I would say my biggest challenge when I was in FFA was making business decisions when it came to my SAE project. My SAE project was Boer Goat Production. I raised and sold show goats for our family operation Bridgeport Boer Goats. It took me quite a whole to be ok with selling my goats that I had spent many hours with. In the long run, I was able to work with exhibitors across the U.S. that showed goats I raised. It is honestly way more rewarding to watch someone else be successful with the livestock you raised. The biggest takeaway is that in life you have to be willing to make hard decisions frequently and take big leaps of faith to be successful. I would not be where I am at today if it wasn't for this life lesson."
What do you enjoy most about being an Ag Teacher/ FFA Advisor?: "My favorite part about being an Ag teacher/FFA Advisor is being able to provide opportunities for students that they have never experienced before. FFA is able to transform students from shy quite individuals into confident leaders. I love being able to watch students come out of their shells, think outside the box, and pursue opportunities that will turn into careers."
