Overview
The Iowa FFA Nursery/Landscape CDE includes all aspects of the industry in producing, marketing, utilizing, and maintaining landscape plants (woody and herbaceous plants and turf grasses), plus related products, equipment and services including landscape design. The purpose is to stimulate career interest, encourage proficiency development and recognize excellence in students of nursery practices and landscape through the Agricultural Education curriculum.
Rules
The Iowa FFA Nursey/Landscape Career Development Event will be limited to one team per chapter.
Each school shall enter a team composed of three or four participants. The top three individual total scores will be combined with the team challenge scores to determine the team score.
Team members must all be members of the same FFA chapter.
Each contesant will participate in all seven phases of the event.
Under no circumstances will any participant be allowed to touch or handle in any way any speciments in any phase of the event. Any infraction of this policy will be sufficient cause to eliminate the team from the event.
No team members or advisors are to observe materials in the horticulture greenhouse at the event site during the three weeks prior to the event.
Participants shall report to the chair of the event a time specified by contest chair on ent day.
Answer sheets and other written materials will be furnished for each event phase.
Participants are to furnish all measuring instruments for the problem-solving phases. Participants are also expected to bring all safety equipment for team skills and equipment operation events. All participants are to bring their own equipment; including pencils, tape measurers, rulers, etc.
All plant materials and team challenge equipment will be furnished for the event.
A special effort will be made not to use questions or establish situations which might be termed as controversial. In developing the event, special efforts will be made to use materials which are generally accepted nationwide.
Exhibits will be left out following the event for viewing and photographing by FFA chapter advisors and others.
