Lenox FFA Chapter History
2013 - Lenox
Lenox officially became a FFA chapter in 2013.
2013 - Our First Advisor
Samantha Godwin was our first FFA Advisor from 2013-2015.
2015 - Our Second Advisor
Christy Spinler was our second FFA Advisor starting in 2015 and moving schools in 2019.
2018 - First State Degree
In 2018 Katelyn B. was the first member of the Lenox FFA Chapter to get an Iowa State FFA Degree.
2019 - Our Third Advisor
Jackie Rush became our third FFA Advisor starting in 2019 and left in 2021.
2020 - Second and Third State Degrees
In 2020 Chelsey H. and Tyra S. got their Iowa State FFA Degrees making them the second and third members to get their degrees in the Lenox FFA Chapter.
2021 - Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth State Degrees
In 2021 at the 93rd Iowa FFA Leadership Conference Chase J., Jordan E., and Alexis B. got there their Iowa FFA State Degrees.
2021 - Two Offices?
Josie M. became the first member of the Lenox FFA Chapter to ever hold to officers. She is now holding the positions of Reporter and Vice President.
2021 - Our Fourth Advisor
Rylee Brown became our fourth FFA Advisor and Ag Teacher in 2021.
2021 - JH FFA
Miss Brown made the decision to make Lenox a Junior High FFA Chapter.
Constitution
Article I: Name
Section A: The name of the organization shall be the Lenox FFA Chapter of the Iowa FFA Association of the National FFA Organization.
Article II: Acceptance of State and National Constitutions.
The organization accepts in full the provisions of the constitution and by-laws of the Iowa FFA Association and the National FFA Organization.
Article III: Officers
Section A: The officers shall consist of the following: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Reporter, and Sentinel, with the option to elect an Assistant Reporter. These officers will serve as the executive committee. The Agriculture Instructor will serve as the FFA Advisor.
Section B: The executive committee, with the approval of the advisor, has the authority to take proper action in a case where immediate action is required without the consent of the chapter.
Section C: The office of President shall be held by a senior or a junior who has helf a previous office. The office of president may be held for only one one-year term. Other officers may come from any class.
Section D: Members seekin an office shall submit an officer application form and be interviewed by a nominating committee. The committee shall consist of at least, but not limited to. Retiring Officers who are also Seniors and a staff member or administrator from Lenox Schools to oversee the interviewing process. The Committee will review the applications submitted by members interested in running for office. The committee will determine a question that will be asked to all Candidates in front of the voting members at the FFA Meeting designated as the Officer Election. The candidates will know this question in advances. The election will take place at at least two weeks prior to the Annual FFA Banquet. The new officers will be formally announced and installed at the Annual FFA Banquet.
Article IV: Annual Program of Activities
The Executive Committee will review and update the Program of Activities annually. It will be presented at the October Lenox FFA meeting. It will be sent to the State Executive Secretary for approval before November 1.
Article V: Determining Admission and Degrees of Members
The Lenox FFA Chapter will determine membership and degrees based on the requirements set forth in the National FFA Student Handbook and National FFA Manual. Degreed will be awarded at the Annual FFA Banquet.
Article VI: Meetings
Section A: Regular meetings of the chapter shall be held. Meetings will be announced on the school bulletin. Special meeting may be called by the President at his or her own volition, on the advice of his or her execute committee or upon the request of seven members with the consent of the advisor.
Section B: The Executive Committee will meet within one week prior to each regular chapter meeting to set and approve the agenda.
Article VII: Finances
Chapter cost shall be met by the chapter as a whole through copperative fundraising activities or by assessment of the members.
Article VIII: Amendments
Amendments to this constitution shall be submitted to the secretary in writing at least two weeks in advanced of a regular meeting. The executive committee shall submit to the chapter its recommendation with respect t each proposed amendment. A two-thirds majority vote of all active members is necessary for adoption.
Article IX: Disciplinary Action
The Executive Committee will make recommendations to the chapter for proper disciplinary actions in the event they feel an action of a member has misrepresented the chapter. The Executive Committee, advisor and school administrators will determine the final action.
By-Laws
The Vice President will assign and oversee members on the three committees to monitor progress on Program of Activity projects:
Student Development
Chapter Development
Community Development
The newly elected officers, with help of the advisor, shall evaluate the Program of Activities for the year. It will be presented at the October meeting.
Additional By-Laws may be added and te revisions made by a majority vote of the members present at a regular meeting.
Local, State, and National Dues will be paid by all members each year. A local deadline will be set.
If officers break the officer contract, they will be removed from office immediately. They will also "sit out" activities according to the school Good Conduct Policy.
