The guides below are for the following models:
Lemus HOME Classic 1200/1500/1800.
Lemus HOME Artistic.
A light sanding of your Lemus HOME is recommended and you must pay special attention not to sand corners and close to the edges. You should preferably only sand the large surfaces. Remember to always sand in the direction of the grain.
Dirt stuck to the surface and minor scratches, wood fibers that have risen, etc. can be removed with an abrasive sponge or fine sand-paper.
Note it is important to treat the Lemus unit with the corresponding surface treatment such as oil or lacquer see what kind of surface treatment you should apply in the restoring section below or refer to our guide at Care & Maintenance guide
We use raw linseed oil on our Oak and Walnut units which can be bought in most construction markets.
The oil is applied with a neutral sponge or cloth, with the vein direction. With the vast majority of oil types, you must dry after application to remove excess oil. Here we recommend that you follow the instructions on the product. Especially with pigmented oil, it is important that the oil is applied evenly throughout the furniture, as otherwise stains may occur.
Start by cleaning the surfaces. Dirt stuck in the surface, and less scratches, wood fibers that have risen, etc. can be advantageously removed with an abrasive sponge or fine sandpaper. Apply a light sanding to the area of concern, remember to wipe off the remaining residue from the surface before moving on to next step.
Now it is time to apply the black stain. Take care it doesn´t transfer to the top board as it might leave blotches (these can be removed again by a wet cloth before you start applying lacquer)
Wait a short while and apply the lacquer using a cloth. Don´t use too much lacquer and take care it doesn’t transfer to other areas.
Contact our support at home@lemus.dk if in doubt.
