FOD1010: Food Basics is an introduction to food safety and sanitation and to developing skills in planning and preparing basic food recipes in accordance with Canada's Food Guide. Efficient work habits and various culinary skills are emphasized. Activities in this course are significant for students who want to learn how to cook, want to enhance cooking as a hobby, or are considering a potential career in the food industry.

Taking any Career and Technology Studies course helps to fulfill the requirements for an Alberta High School Diploma. Upon successful completion of Food Basics, you earn one credit toward your high school diploma and the prerequisite for all other Food courses.
