Exiting from MLP

A student will be exited from the ESOL program when he or she has met the state exit criteria on the annual ACCESS test. Starting with d 2020-2021 school year, the exit criteria that must be met are:

Please be sure to send home the district exit letter to notify and congratulate the family! The student will no longer need to participate in the ACCESS test, but his or her state test scores will still be counted for two years as part of the school’s LEP subgroup for AYP purposes.


“Exited” Students must be monitored to ensure no further ESOL Services is needed. This process includes monitoring grades and standardized test scores, as well as regular communication with classroom teachers. A monitoring report will need to be documented in Frontline/Enrich for four consecutive years. No other criteria need to be met in order to be coded an English proficient of 8 after this point. Once a student no longer needs to be monitored… They’re done!!!
