Dear Parents,
Today your child is bringing home a piece of paper regarding an assignment to be completed over winter break. One of the books that YOU provided our classroom (from the recent book fair) is called, The Gift of Words, by Peter H. Reynolds. It emphasizes the power of positive words in a world filled with so many negative ones. In class we have enjoyed the story more than once. The students were each given a chance this week to choose a positive word, decide how they will apply that word (through their own actions and words) over the break, and consider how it will have a positive effect on others. Please be on the lookout for the sheet today, keep it in a safe place, and make sure that your child focuses on applying his/her positive word over the break. Please return the signed sheet by Tuesday, January 13th if you feel like your child successfully applied the word. Let me know if you have any questions.
Speaking of holiday break, we're almost there! In celebration of the holidays, the students are welcome to come in their pajamas tomorrow. (Please make sure sneakers are worn.). The students will be served hot chocolate with marshmallows while they enjoy a movie. Please remember that tomorrow is a minimum day dismissal at 12:50 PM.
As a reminder, Corrected Work Envelopes are NOT coming home today. They will resume in January.
Have a wonderful three weeks together. I hope you are able to make some wonderful memories.
