September 11, 2025
Dear Parents,
Thank you to those who were able to make it to our Patriot Day Ceremony. We were glad you were able to make it.
Coming home today with your child is the Accelerated Reader (AR) reading level bookmark I referred to at Back-to-School Night. It will be in your child's Corrected Work Envelope. This green bookmark has the independent reading level (IRL) your child achieved on the first STAR reading comprehension test. It also has a Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD), which is the reading range your child is asked to currently stay within when choosing books to read and test on for AR. If your child is excited about reading and testing on a book that is slightly outside this range, please let me know. I never want to hinder a student's exploration of a good book. But at the same time, I want to make sure each student has the proper amount of challenge within the books being read.
The students will only test on books while at school. They will each be given daily time to complete these tests online when they are ready. Each student is asked to earn a minimum of 4 AR points most months through AR reading comprehension testing. The first 4 points deadline is on October 7th. To learn more, click on the "Accelerated Reader" tab on this site.
On another note, please be aware that the students will have a Mid-Module 1 Math Test on Tuesday, 9/16. This test will be on lessons 1-10. Please let me know if you have any questions.
As a reminder, the "Corrected Work" envelope comes home today. Please sign and return the work in the envelope by Monday.
If you are an approved volunteer and would like to volunteer for psychomotor on Thursday mornings between 8:10 AM- 9:10 AM the office has asked that you email me beforehand and let me know you'll be coming. It helps things run more smoothly. We do need your help! Please consider volunteering even if it is only once a month.
Have a super weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. McLoud
