As we reach the end of another exciting term, we want to take a moment to celebrate the wonderful learning experiences our children have enjoyed. From hands-on encounters with fascinating creatures to historical adventures and musical journeys, it has been a term filled with curiosity, discovery, and achievement.
Reception – A Wild Encounter!
Our Reception children had an unforgettable visit from Exotic Explorers, who introduced them to an amazing array of creatures, including snakes, millipedes, and even a chinchilla! The children were incredibly brave and eager to learn, asking thoughtful questions and observing the animals up close. It was a fantastic opportunity to develop their understanding of the natural world while sparking curiosity and wonder.
Year 1 – Exploring the World and Beyond
Year 1 has had a term full of geography, history, and science! They delved into the adventures of Christopher Columbus, learning about his voyages and discoveries. Our young scientists put their investigative skills to the test, conducting experiments to determine the best material for Columbus' boat—there were some surprising results! Alongside this, their writing skills have flourished, with staff incredibly proud of the progress they have made in developing their storytelling.
Year 2 – Stepping into History and Music
Year 2 had the privilege of a live visit from Florence Nightingale! Miss Nightingale answered the children's insightful questions before putting them to the test, teaching them how to tend to ‘wounds’ just like real nurses of the past. Their enthusiasm for history was truly inspiring!
In addition, Year 2 made the entire academy proud with their trip to the Royal Festival Hall to watch the Philharmonic Orchestra. Traveling by train into London was an exciting first-time experience for many of them, and they conducted themselves brilliantly throughout the journey. It was a truly enriching day of culture and music.

KS2 Termly Highlights: A Journey Through History, Culture, and Culinary Delights!
What a whirlwind of learning and adventure it's been in KS2 this term! We've been busy exploring history, culture, and even the culinary arts, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Here's a glimpse into the exciting experiences our children have had:
Year 3: Pizza Perfection!
Our Year 3 students transformed into budding chefs and designers! They embarked on a delicious project, learning about the origins of pizza and the art of creating their own. From kneading dough to choosing toppings, they experienced the entire process firsthand. Not only did they create mouthwatering pizzas, but they also designed and crafted their very own pizza boxes, adding a touch of personal flair to their culinary creations.
Year 4: Echoes of Ancient Greece
Year 4 transported themselves back in time to Ancient Greece, delving into the fascinating world of this influential civilisation. They explored the lasting impact of Greek culture on modern society, with a particular focus on the birth of democracy. To bring this concept to life, the children participated in their very own debate, honing their oracy skills and understanding the foundations of democratic principles.
Year 5: A Viking Feast!
Year 5 embarked on a thrilling Viking adventure! Dressed as fierce Norse warriors, they immersed themselves in Viking culture and traditions. They tried their hands at traditional bread-making, learning about Viking culinary practices and using authentic ingredients. They also engaged in traditional games like tug-of-war, experiencing the strength and camaraderie of Viking society. Finally, they explored replicas of Viking artefacts, gaining a deeper understanding of their history and way of life.
Year 6: A Historic Journey to Belgium
Year 6 had the extraordinary opportunity to participate in the first-ever LAD International trip to Belgium. I was privileged to accompany them on this poignant journey to the battlefields of World War I and World War II. This once-in-a-lifetime experience brought their inquiry learning to life, allowing them to witness war memorials, cemeteries, and battlefields firsthand. They gained a profound understanding of this crucial period in British history, creating memories that will undoubtedly stay with them forever.
We are incredibly proud of all the learning and experiences our KS2 students have had this term. We look forward to more exciting adventures in the terms to come!
