This term has seen more after school clubs on offer than ever before, thanks to the enthusiasm of our wonderful teaching assistants and teachers, who were excited to share their interests with the children. Gardening club has started up again and they have been busy planting flowers and vegetables in the allotment at the juniors, ready to harvest in the summer. Our school band is growing every term and the children have worked hard learning their instruments ready for performances in assembly. At the infants, the children in science club have been taking part in exciting experiments. Other recent clubs have included: sketching, gymnastics, hockey, football, calligraphy and chess.
This year’s JAS awards participants in years 5 and 6 have begun their activities and are well on their way to completing some parts of their awards. The JAS awards is a scheme like the Duke of Edinburgh’s award which challenges the children to take part in a range of extra-curricular activities. Some of the children who are doing cooking as their ‘interest’ activity, had a bake off which we all happily agreed to judge! They have also taken part in orienteering and made texture maps as some of their ‘adventure’ activities.
Sporting events
It’s been an action-packed period of fixtures, with thrilling performances across multiple competitions!
In the football league, our team fought valiantly, winning their last three matches. However, despite their impressive run, they narrowly missed out on progressing due to goal difference. Fortunately, our cup campaign told a different story—strong performances secured us a well-earned spot in the quarter-finals, bringing us one step closer to finals day!
Beyond football, our Year 3/4 handball team stole the spotlight, emerging as tournament champions! A special shoutout to our Year 3 goalkeepers, who threw themselves fearlessly across the sports hall, making incredible saves that played a crucial role in the team’s triumph.
We rounded off our fixtures with a fantastic tag rugby festival, where our Year 5/6 children participated with enthusiasm, displaying excellent teamwork and sportsmanship throughout.
Well done to all involved—your dedication and spirit continue to make us proud!
