IB News
What an amazing term it has been! Our students have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the IB learner profiles through their lessons, assemblies, and daily interactions. They have truly embraced these attributes, applying them not only to their learning but also to their everyday lives, both inside and outside the classroom. This term, our young learners have demonstrated a strong spirit of inquiry, particularly while investigating the Easter story. Their research has sparked curiosity and deepened their understanding, making for an enriching learning experience.
Over the past two terms, our students have taken incredible action as fundraisers, showing compassion and generosity. Our Reception children have made an outstanding contribution by raising an impressive £428 for Crisis – Homeless Charity. Each class took the initiative to choose their own way to fundraise: Giraffes organised a second-hand toy and book sale, Tree Kangaroos held a bake sale, and Chimpanzees took on a sponsored star jump challenge. Additionally, all three classes worked together to bake delicious treats for the bake sale. Their hard work and kindness prove that even the smallest efforts can create meaningful change.
Meanwhile, our Year 5 students have been dedicated to supporting the Wells on Wheels charity, which provides clean and safe drinking water to communities in need. Through their initiative of organising a staff car wash, they have raised an impressive £245! Their commitment to global citizenship highlights the power of collective action in addressing important humanitarian causes.
A huge congratulations to Year 3 for their excellent work as designers and chefs! They demonstrated creativity and practical skills by planning, designing, and crafting their very own pizza boxes—before making delicious pizzas entirely from scratch!
As we head into the Easter holidays, we’d love to hear about any learning or activities happening at home! Please feel free to share updates via ClassDojo, including any special Easter celebrations your family has planned. Next term, we would love to invite parents and family members to share their experiences and careers with our students. If you’re interested in taking part, please get in touch with Miss Bhaker via our school office!
Well done to all our students for their enthusiasm, dedication, and willingness to make a difference. We look forward to another exciting term ahead!
Careers Related Learning
It has been an exciting module for careers! There have been lots of careers woven into the curriculum: the nursery learned about different people that help us in the community, including doctors, nurses and paramedics. Year 3 were product designers, creating vehicles that could travel through various extreme terrains, and year 6 visited the Leigh UTC to take part in a workshop linked to careers in mechanical design.
The whole school also took part in Enterprise Week where the children designed and created different products; an example of this was designing and making a machine that could clean water for people to wash their hands. Another year group designed and made machines that could run using solar power.
Each year group then made different products to sell at the Enterprise Fair at the end of the week: this included fruit kebabs, candle holders and hot chocolate bags. This was very successful and the school raised £200 to donate to Lend with Care - a charity that supports people in countries around the world trying to establish their own businesses.
