Dear Parents and Carers,
Despite the small degree of turbulence we have experienced over the last two weeks, created by growing numbers of covid cases and a shortfall of supply teachers to fill the void, the entire LAB community have made it safely through to the festive break - hurrah!
Having moved to 3 publications of LABnews annually, we hope you enjoy this edition and our review of the 2021-2022 academic year so far. It really has been fantastic to see the building used in the way it was designed, with students having access to such a wide range of facilities that were restricted last year due to the required safety measures. The range of clubs and societies on offer has been abundant, with students embracing the opportunities available to reconnect with practical hobbies and interests after the challenges of lockdown, or simply as a chance to try new experiences and learn new skills.
We have enjoyed hosting our first parent and carer forums this year, and look forward to providing further opportunities to collaborate with all members of the LAB community on a range of interesting and important topics in the new year.
Following our open events in module 1, we were delighted to receive 1060 applications for 2022-2023 year 7 places, with over 300 first choice preferences for the available 180 places. Next year, we will also be hosting open events for LAB16, our new sixth form. More news about this will follow in the new year.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support, and wish you a safe and peaceful festive break.
Best wishes,
E Smith
