There are four Word Millionaires this term; one of them is a Word Multi Millionaire!

Well done to the following:

Ruicheng in 7A who has read 2,546,528 words;

Harriet in 8B who has read 1,795,488 words;

Joshua in 8D who has read 1,482,986;

Nina in 9F who has read 1,470,647 words.

They will each receive a badge and certificate.

We are also awarding pupils for the most Accelerated Reader quizzes passed. These include:

Ruicheng in 7A, who passed 67 quizzes. He will receive a £10 gift card, badge & certificate.

Harriet in 8B, who passed 29 quizzes; Angelica in 7E, who passed 22, as did Elena in 7C. They will each receive a badge & certificate.

Well done to all students who took part!

The library is a popular, busy working area within the school, but it is primarily used for study, research and homework. All students must follow these rules:

1. Students should conduct themselves in an appropriate manner whilst in the library and show respect towards staff, and other students at all times.

2. Noise should be kept to minimum, so as not to disturb other library users who are studying or working.

3. No food or drink is allowed in the library.

4. Students must treat the books with respect and keep the shelves tidy. Please remember, they have been provided for your pleasure and to assist your education!

5. Return the books on time.

6. Enjoy the library, use it sensibly and responsibly.

7. The computers should only be used for homework or private study. Playing computer games is not allowed!

Students are responsible for handling library books and resources with care. Please keep books away from food, liquids and pets.

Any book or resource that is damaged or lost should be reported to Miss Medcalf immediately in order for it to be repaired. If the damage caused cannot be easily corrected, parents or carers will be required to pay for or to provide a replacement copy.

All books issued from Leigh Academy Blackheath library must be returned directly to the library and not to a member of staff.

If you leave Leigh Academy Blackheath, please return all books before leaving.

All books are loaned for a period of 2 weeks. The due date of each book will always be stamped on the inside cover of the book. If students have not finished their book during this time, they may be able to renew the book. If a student has an overdue book, they will not be able to borrow another book until said overdue book is renewed or returned.

We will issue two reminders to return an overdue book. If said book is still not returned, an email will be sent home with details of how to replace or pay for the book.

Broken or damaged Chromebooks need to be returned to Ms Medcalf in the Library who will arrange for them to be sent off for repairs via the Academy.

Please note: parents and carers are no longer responsible for sending Chromebooks away for repair themselves.
